HP2 was great. I think it's actually the strongest movie of the series...

It wasn't a clown movie, you don't even have to dig too deep beneath the surface to see the messages that that movie was attempting to convey to the black youth. Black History, Black Intellect, The true meaning of Friendship, overcoming certain stereotypes on race, sex, and relationships. ALL of those themes were present throughout the movie. The Black Professor trying to get Kid to understand the IMPORTANCE of James Baldwin and Marcus Garvey spoke, to a certain degree, on the notion that just BECAUSE your black, it doesn't mean anything if you don't understand what it MEANS to be black.

Play being selfish and using Kid's Scholarship check, to finally coming to a realization on the IMPORTANCE of education and why Kid was so adamant on college, to selling his most prized possession to make up for what he had done and show Kid that he was truly his friend; again speaks to a message of understanding, unity, and most importantly maturity. Life isn't about just chasing skins, partying, and being a player. It's about sacrifice and also doing whats morally right.

Loved House Party 2, really i think the whole trilogy was great and I salute Kid N Play for utilizing Hip Hop and ALL it's themes in a positive contrast to the other urban films of the era..

While I agree with all that you said about HP2, that doesn't mean it wasn't a clown movie. It was a Clown movie with all that hidden inside it.

I'm not saying it to be offensive, I liked it. But its such a clown movie I had to compare it to TMNT 2 because that turned into a clown movie too... but I still liked it :manny:

Nah son...that movie pissed me off so much...from the way Play did Kid dirty...to the way Tisha Campbell was actin..it pissed me off and it was kind of depressing..lol...first one is OBVIOUSLY the strongest I don't even think that's debatable...lol...I like the 3rd one as well when it dropped...the strongest Kid n Play movies were House Party 1 and Class Act...

clearly you couldnt handle the emotional rollercoaster of HP2 :smugbiden:

Lottery Ticket & Next Day Air are two of the last black comedies that i really liked. Lottery Ticket was a goofball movie, but it was alot more likable than i'd expect.

Soul Plane is classic to me too :dead: shiit is so campy and over the top i cant help but laugh in good and bad ways.

the black movie genre has been so :flabbynsick: the last decade
They sold out :damn:

Ice Cube was holding it down. Even was involved in Higher Learning n shyt
Once movies like that was popular, the directors of those movies probably stopped getting put on by hollywood.

Or Hollywood trying to be hollywood was like "We don't need these nikkaz to make nikka movies" and the bullshyt you see today is a result of it. Just like the music industry.

Whats the last Hudlin Bros movie? Ok, after doing just a tiny bit of research heres what I come up with :birdman:

Reginald Hudlin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He directed House Party, Boomerang, The Great White Hype, The Ladies Man, Serving Sara (2002), an episode of the TV series Modern Family and Outsourced.

From 2005 to 2008, Hudlin was the President of Entertainment for BET. He was the writer of the Marvel Comics series Black Panther from 2005 to 2008, most notable for the 2006 storyline "Bride of the Panther," which saw the characters Storm and the Black Panther wed.

He was one of the producers of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson.[5] On January 10, 2013, Hudlin received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture for the film.
The brothers came in with guns, walked out with Jobs. The brothers weren't high anymore :damn: :damn:

Raleigh by way of Crooklyn
I had just moved to Durham, NC a couple years back and went to this tiny mall called northgate, they used to have this smoothie spot across from spencers, so while I'm waiting in line, there's this older cat in a windbreaker suit ahead of me, he turns around looking at the girls walk by and it hits me...yo thats play, I ask him "what you doing here" he goes this is my spot...I immediately asked him...why dont you guys do a movie with everybody from all the old house party joints, he continued to look at the girls and said simply "politics", then got his smoothie threw up a peace sign and bounced...then I saw him at the exxon and he threw up another peace sign...funny dude

LOL at the image of Play hanging out in hooded out Northgate Mall.... I only been to that spot one time and that was to get something done at the DMV office there. I heard that he teaches some hip hop course at NC Central.

:bryan: at that trailer, though. I remember the OG House Party fondly. The second and third runs are palatable to me for different reasons. No. 3 was just straight jokes and comedy with Bernie Mac and Renaldo Rey. I ain't care for the broad that played Kid's girl in No. 3. No. 2 was more of a conscious effort, but a little too serious for me, though I could appreciate the message they was trying convey. I ain't like how quick Sydney started tripping on Kid and letting Latifah's character get all in her head.
