HP2 was great. I think it's actually the strongest movie of the series...
It wasn't a clown movie, you don't even have to dig too deep beneath the surface to see the messages that that movie was attempting to convey to the black youth. Black History, Black Intellect, The true meaning of Friendship, overcoming certain stereotypes on race, sex, and relationships. ALL of those themes were present throughout the movie. The Black Professor trying to get Kid to understand the IMPORTANCE of James Baldwin and Marcus Garvey spoke, to a certain degree, on the notion that just BECAUSE your black, it doesn't mean anything if you don't understand what it MEANS to be black.
Play being selfish and using Kid's Scholarship check, to finally coming to a realization on the IMPORTANCE of education and why Kid was so adamant on college, to selling his most prized possession to make up for what he had done and show Kid that he was truly his friend; again speaks to a message of understanding, unity, and most importantly maturity. Life isn't about just chasing skins, partying, and being a player. It's about sacrifice and also doing whats morally right.
Loved House Party 2, really i think the whole trilogy was great and I salute Kid N Play for utilizing Hip Hop and ALL it's themes in a positive contrast to the other urban films of the era..
While I agree with all that you said about HP2, that doesn't mean it wasn't a clown movie. It was a Clown movie with all that hidden inside it.

I'm not saying it to be offensive, I liked it. But its such a clown movie I had to compare it to TMNT 2 because that turned into a clown movie too... but I still liked it

the last decade

at parts.
..its rated R but isn't play supposed to be saved

at that trailer, though. I remember the OG House Party fondly. The second and third runs are palatable to me for different reasons. No. 3 was just straight jokes and comedy with Bernie Mac and Renaldo Rey. I ain't care for the broad that played Kid's girl in No. 3. No. 2 was more of a conscious effort, but a little too serious for me, though I could appreciate the message they was trying convey. I ain't like how quick Sydney started tripping on Kid and letting Latifah's character get all in her head.
