Oh...and i justbwanted to say. I hate when people say that house/techno is repetitive or it's too gaynsounding.
Whatever. The ladies LOVE house music. And i go to techno and house parties here in new york. Ive actually rappped with.mad gay and lesbian people and honestly...i have no problem with them and they're actually fun to party with. They got the drugs and know what's up when it comes to house. It helps to be "in" or have that seal of approval...especially in this genre. Also...house like it or not comes from the gay culture...so what's the point of being a homopbe?

My thing is...personally my inage as a dj is kind of like that pimp n!gga. Thats got the flyest gear on...the baddest rides...the finest honies...the works.

The thing i like about the old school house scene and producers here in ew york isthat connection to street/hood cukture. Which is now kind of a little thing i work honestly for style purposes. Cause that's who i am at the end of the day.

Btw...you got to put me onto some more african house.

That's one part of the house music spectrum i really haven't cracked the surface of.

Most of the stuff I play is either from the states or from Europe.

I fux with the European stuff...always have. Started out playing UK hard house and deep house from labels like kompakt and plastic city out of germany.

I've noticed more and more djs have been throwing african house in their sets. It's huge with me (beinv african...maybe that's why i always gravitates towards the stuff)...but they developed their own style that reflects the culture of africa perfectly.
My inspiration comes from playing like minimal house and techno...deep house..tech house...and progressive. Back when i was coming up trying to cultivate my own signature sound i was gravitating towards those type of records...ofcourse mixing it with chicago and detroit staples.

I was gaining that reputation as a black dj that was playing stuff that most djs period weren't touching...especially amongst black djs...but whatever.

I honestly consider house/techno to be the most colorless form of music their is...it took on a life of its own. Based on machines...and machinery. And electronics.

The whole idea of even putting together a set when I started djing was like constructing something new from something that already existed.

Personally I'm at the moment where i'm very philosophical about house and electronic music.

I remember when i was first getting into it and inspired by science fiction...and hip-hop. Trying to envision that future where technology and music fused together.

Now we are in the future and as evidence by this current edm explosion and house music being everywhere...from fashion commercials...to video games...to movies this is the sound of it.
I got you...i'll put together an Afro House playlist for you one of these days when i get the time
