Yep..but the Somalis in her Minneapolis riding are mostly from her clan, so they have been riding for her regardless of her bad decisions, but this is a new obstacle.

On the one hand, I was born and raised in America because of him. On the other hand, my family lost most of its wealth and ended up split between two borders. I’ll admit he did a very tiny bit of good things but it’s completely negated by his brutality.

However, given the strategic importance of Ethiopia the adoption of Communism was a Scarlett letter given Mengistu’s over reliance on the USSR. Perhaps if he had aligned more closely with China he and the regime might’ve survived but even that wouldn’t have been full proof since this was around the time China was really beginning to develop its market economy and might’ve eased off if America was dead set on having a regime in place that was more to America’s liking.

Public perception and marketing etc still matter. Releasing political opponents is an easy public relations call assuming you are securely in power.
