One more thought. Bub Carrington's dad passed away March 20 after a year long battle with cancer. Terrible and sad that the guy died so young, but what a tribute to your dad to play every damn game this year. Big Bub must have been so proud of his boy. To see how the kid carried himself knowing his dad was terminal makes you even more proud as a fan.
In my stat scans of the kid I was wondering in March if he was injured. His numbers took a serious hit. His TS% was 45%, the worst month of the year. Vs February when he hit 40% from 3, with a TS of .636. I figured he was hitting the rookie wall after playing more minutes than anyone else on the team. Playing distracted with 35 TOs that month, when he was normally stingy in turning the ball over. Not aggressive.
To then find out his dad was dying that month sheds a light on things. The kid was carrying a heavy load, and given how cancer diagnoses go, it was probably on his mind all season.
From that he comes back and hits 40% from 3 in April. Nearly doubling his scoring average at 17ppg. With a 3:1 Ast/to ratio. It makes you wonder how much better the kid might have played without such a heavy weight on his heart.
Anyway, proud of this kid myself. He had a really damn good rookie season all things considered. Age. Family. Team. I'm looking forward to see what his career becomes from here on out.
