Oh it is a thing. Its a mentality that some have that has them doing certain negative behaviors.

There are things that qualifies one as progressive because it will benefit the black community.

What I said isnt dumb because if everybody went against the hood mentality then we would progress.

I had ths thought for years but I never had a specific term for it.

Once I heard the song it reinforced my belief to hear someone with more reach than me agree and even provided a term for me to use.

Please dont insult my intelligence.

They did something that made them fail so of course they would know about that action more so than others.

Hood usually means being frugal, resourceful, making the most of things, working hard and even having a sort of entrepreneurial mindset. I think the ghetto mentality is seen as more negative.

They both negative to me how most really use it but I will say you can tell by how its used and the person using it which one it is though

Son, I can't even tell you what "'Hood Mentality" is - and i'm "'hood" born and bred...
...matter of fact, I come from a "'hood" right next to Ice Cube's.
The reason why I can't is because I know that there isn't a mental attitude
that everyone from the 'hood carries.
