No shade but FL is for real music for dummies, literally gives you blocks to fill in :heh:

If you want to just make beats get FL

If you want to actually have a virtual studio and learn to make music get Logic or Pro Tools. I use Logic myself, make some beats on the side. Couple below if y'all wanna check them out :manny:

On a basic level all of these programs and hardware are just MIDI Sequencer/ Samplers. On the simplest level they have the same basic features.

Workflow and extended feature sets is what sets them apart.

But you can essentially make the same beat in anyone of these programs.

You can prefer one over the other but none of them are 'trash'

Me personally I use my Logic and MPC. But I'm positive I could achieve the same results with Ableton, Reason, Maschine, Pro Tools, Cubase or Fruity Loops etc. etc. etc.

I know this because I know every one of those programs and know virtually ever piece sequencing hardware created to a degree and have been able to accomplish the same thing with all of them.

To the guy saying FL is just blocks you fill in. That's just a step sequencer view, FL has a traditional piano roll as well. The visual design doesn't make it trash. It's still just MIDI notes triggering samples at a designated point. Same as Logic, same as an MPC, same as every sequencer/sampler ever.

I don't even use the step sequencer. Drums in the Piano Roll with FPC is much better to oversee.

lately my lil brother has been wanting to make beats...but I think these younger cats are hearing Metro and Sonnie and think that there is some 808 trap template and all you have to do is add in your own sounds....Instant Trap...had to tell his lil ass that ain't the wave...

I know a guy that uses the same .flp for every project..it's basic as fukk with some hats a bass drum, snare and a synth melody that worked for him... he changes a few things around...the beat now sounds different but it isn't...you don't even gotta change the tempo, or anything in the playlist... now nikkas wanna beat his ass :francis:

I came up in the school of Boom Bap, I wanted to be like Marley Marl and Premiere:salute:...my major problem was the timing I got on FL differed greatly than the timing on an MPC... my drum patterns used to sound toy like and automated, then one night the lord touched me and I started recording my patterns live...this allows me to now make joints on the spot and add more variation...without clicking blocks, now I only use Edison, FPC, Slicex and Kontakt and with transport controls rarely do I have to even touch the mouse

I told my lil bro the hardware inside a 1999 Dell machine shyts all over the TR 808 and countless hits were made with it...it's not about what you use but how you use it

Personally, I love FL.....People think its a Daw that you can learn overnight but its not.
When I first tried Fl Studio 9, it took me like 7-8 months to figure out what the fukk I was doing :russ:
But the drive and determination was there to learn as much as I could. Then I stumbled on tutorials on youtube that made it easier :mjcry::whew:

I've flirted other daws in the past, but I wouldn't lie and say it had me intimidated, so I went back to what I was familiar with. :yeshrug:

Yes, FL does have it flaws....its not perfect, but it works for me. Just use whatever daw is comfortable for you. Yeah theres ppl online that abuse the fukk outta FLs and make lazy uninspired beats, but you can make some dope ass beats using it. Here's one I made

I really hate the way FL looks I also hate floating Windows. Really kills my workflow.

One of the reasons I dropped cubase pro 8 for abeleton. I still mix with cubase tho.
