Eric Garner’s mother, Gwen Carr, accompanied Zachery to court today. Her son was killed in a department-banned police chokehold in 2014. She said the verdict set a disturbing precedent.

Zachery’s attorney, Donte Mills, sued Penny on his behalf last week. He said the verdict means, “If we see someone going through something, to ask them if they’re okay. That’s how we help each other. Require the city to protect every single homeless person by doing mandatory psych holds and forced drug treatment. If they refuse send them to prison. If anyone disagrees woth this after this verdict they are negligent and allowing homeless to be put in harms way.

Said earlier in this thread he’d be tough to convict exactly for those reasons. These folks are dodging dudes like that on the regular. Incredibly difficult to have 12 folks convict in this circumstance when that’s part of their own daily commutes
