Hold up! So King Solomon from THE BIBLE had 700 WIVES and 300 SIDE CHICKS but ONLY had... 4 children?

Wasn't David the King that turned a blind eye to his son raping his daughter which led to him getting ran outta there by his other son?

If I remember correctly, not only did his son kill the rapist son as revenge for his sis on some Littlefinger Game of Thrones plot shyt, he also forced David to flee the city and rounded up all of David's hoes and concubines to the roof of the palace to smash them in front of the entire city to cuckhold his daddy while daddy ran to the bushes:pachaha:

And the son is considered the bad guy of the story:russ:

pure fukkery. That show would clean up at the Emmys. Somebody get me David Simon on the phone :wow:

It's pretty cool reading the books of judges and of kings in the bible. David's rise to power, then his downfall, then Solomon comes in and the temple gets built then the women turn him towards other God's and his kids turn to other Gods.

Supposedly Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes towards the end of his life regretting all he had done.

I tell folks when you see a drunk nikka looking washed up and he goes into stories like "I was the MAN. Back in MY day....."

Ecclesiastes.

During King Solomon’s era (circa 10th century BCE), child mortality rates were extremely high, consistent with the broader ancient Near East. Archaeological evidence suggests infant mortality approached 50%, with many children dying before age five due to poor living conditions, diseases, and limited medical knowledge

Think about what you're saying. The time necessary to do all that fuçking ain't there.

A king can have wives/concubines that he doesn't get to. Basically their number doesn't get called.
yeah think of it like a filthy rich Saudi collecting luxury sports cars he never gets to whip

:stopitslime:I mean, Rehoboam was Solomon's son and it is said that he ended up having between 80-100 kids. Mortality rates were extremely high for the common poor citizen, not really for the upper-class, specially not for the kids of someone who reigned for 40 years and is one of the richest men to ever exist.

The elites in ancient Near East had a very lavish lifestyle. They lived in city-sized palaces, with access to all of the best the ancient world had to offer. Rendition of one of Solomon's palaces:

They were glazing him over the years to win his favor and the favor of his successors.

"He had so many wives! Women couldn't resist him. He was also the smartest person i ever met. Tall too, he was almost like a giant!"

He probably was capping himself to increase his prestige. Name me ONE authoritarian(yes all kings are authoritarian) that doesn't exaggerate or lie+have an entire PR apparatus to make him sound great.

I feel like if someone claimed that many women back then people would legit decide to just kill him. Like, I don't know how many Israelites were around back then but taking 1000 women out of the pool to choose from would fukk up a lot of young men's options even if the population was 1million. I don't think people would stand for that shyt.

Did you consider there could be other reasons besides this is just being bs? For example, could these women be passed child bearing age? Or what was the purpose of the marriages? Did you look up the custom of that day?
