No love for BIG is this thread?

He's the James Dean of Hip-Hop, had all the talent, but he died way too early in his career, can't really have him in the GOAT discussion when he only had 2 albums to his name, thats unfair to people like Nas, Jay, Pac, Rakim, LL, Kast and others

James Dean was only alive to see his first movie East of Eden

Biggie was only alive to see his first album Ready to Die

James Dean died right before Rebel Without a Cause came out, was his highest grossing film

Biggie died right before Life After Death, was his highest selling album

They both were in their careers short, could Biggie have went on to make better music and stay consistent? of course, could he have burned out like the rest of the artists on Bad Boy? Of course, but we would never know since he died at the height of his career

This was a great post, and it's balanced.

To get back to the main topic, Nas has a strong case for being the greatest rapper ever. His discography is his biggest thing in his favor. With that said, I still think my post to Nv-Me stands as far as that "voice of the generation talk." If he didn't get his feelings hurt, I would've loved to see him defend it.

music is subjective, there's no such thing as a GOAT... it's not sports, where there's statistical evidence to back up an assertion or claim; if you say Nas is the GOAT and I say nah, it's Hov, neither of us can offer proof, nor will we change each other's minds, so it's pointless to even discuss

Hov is ass cheeks! that BP3 album was probably one of the worst album's I've ever listened to (HNIC 3 included :ld:)

HOLD ON Sohh: Is Nas the Goat? - Page 3 - ProjectCOVO.com Global Forum

(fukk SOHH)

I asked the question after Watch The Throne dropped last summer. This nikka is the greatest MC to pic up a microphone. This is coming from a nikka that always preferred Hova but its undeniable. When Nasir gets on production that meshes with his lyrics its not even close.

I know Jay is somewhere like :noah: damn I can't drop another BP3 esq album.

Comeback artist of the year.

This is all opinion. Just because a group of nikkas on a board all agree doesnt make it fact which is why this is not a debate it is only someone with an opinion asking if there's anyone else who agrees but it looks as if we're arguing facts. Only facts in hip hop is money.

Thats not what the fukk I saw. How many "Malcolm X" -esqe songs did he have in All Eyez on Me? If I had to truly guess where Pac would be now it would be in Will Smiths place as the highest paid black actor in the game because he was getting deep into the movie game and, he actually was becoming a good actor.

Listen to the first 20 seconds of this track right here, Nas doesn't seem to agree with you. Ouch..

yeah, this has been my view for over a decade.

This was my view in like 7th grade circa 02. How can that be said in this day and age? I understand that they're two different entities, but I feel like people still hold onto this Nas vs. Jay split or something. As someone who was a Nas fan long before I ever liked Jay-Z, I just don't get it.

You would play the Black Album at parties? The Blueprint? American Gangster? Reasonable Doubt? 85% of Jay-Z shyt cannot be played at parties. It's just that 98% of Nas' can't. What type of parties do you guys go to where people are playing "Already Home in the club?" :what:

Jay has loss something lyrically, but he's never been a "party" rapper. He's always been the street, witty, baller, introspective but more vaguely than deeply rapper as opposed to Nelly.

That comparison is horrible when you actually look at Jay-Z's albums. Take out Volume 2, which Jay-Z album are you playing at parties.

"For those that think Hov' fingers bling bling'n
Either haven't heard the album or they don't know english
They only know what the single is, and singled that out
to be the meaning of what he is about."

Are we still riding with this logic? You can make an argument that he lacks depth as times, but I'm not playing Jay-Z at parties on a consistent basis. Good luck with that.
