These communities weren't "self sufficient". The fact that cacs destroyed these places with impunity is proof enough. There were political and economic barriers, backed by the US government, that prevented these segregated towns from reaching their true potential; hence their destruction and failure.

That’s the question y’all keep ignoring. If someone is oppressing and hurting you, why is your solution, even today, to move next to them?
