I wanna know how nikkaz in this thread keep sayin wayne, gucci n keef?
Wayne did slur some words on some records but you could always understand him, not mumble rap at all
Keef didnt start mumbling till after he dropped his debut album on interscope, he was rappin very clear early on
Gucci just has a problem pronunciating certain words, cuz of a birth deffect he not mumblin on purpose

Yes there is, maybe the term can be debated but mumble rap is rap that consists on emphasis on harmony instead of lyrics.

Slang and non-sense rhyming that some old rappers did is not necessarily mumble rap but it is something that predates it showing that there is nothing new under the sun imo.
