Dancehall's sound is Jamaican whereas hip hop's sound is strictly American. The common denominator is deejaying/rapping. Deejaying originally came from American djs but started developing its own path around the early 70s with artists like Rankin joe, General Echo etc. Check this 1974 recording:

What is a "Jamaican" sound? Putting an accent on something doesn't make it a new genre.

but what made hip hop was da break beat which came from ADOS
The foundation of hip hop is ALL black American. Him being Jamaican is basically useless argument really. Nothing about hip hop came from Jamaica.
