Man, I’m so proud to be a millennial. We were in that sweet spot just before social media but with advances technology. We still hung out at the malls, played Xbox/PlayStation. The NBA was still exciting. Chappelle Show. Soul Plane. Avirex.

Maybe I’m looking at it through rose tinted glasses but man did me and my friends have so much fun back then. Everyday was an adventure.

I genuinely feel bad for this generation. Social media has really messed them up.

Gotdamn I don't have time to go deep into this, this morning!!

2007 was my graduating class. 2006 was the last year I actually went to high school. Started freshman year in 2003!

Most people who started or ended high school in 2004 would be 33-37 years old currently...

Gotdamn I don't have time to go in depth!!!

Film a video like this today and all the kids would be sitting down looking at their phones

Half of them would be mad “what are you filming me for?!”

All the kids here look happy. Most of them actually talked to each other lol
All the kids now have anxiety issues at like 16

About 11.6% of kids had anxiety in 2012, up 20% from 2007. But during the pandemic, those numbers nearly doubled, such that 20.5% of youth worldwide now struggle with anxiety symptoms, according to a meta-analysis of 29 studies reported in JAMA Pediatrics (Vol. 175, No. 11, 2021).

Sheesh

lol yeah 2004 is when I graduated too

different world, last year before Facebook

trends? Baggier everything. No social media, is probably the biggest difference. No camera phones, no one expressed much interest in pictures, except for a handful of polaroids that got taken here and there

Kanye everywhere. The Jesus Walks Ye.
NOKIA phones and Cingular wireless
50 Cent and G Unit everywhere

my homie played Wanna Get To You Know (G-Unit) last night at a party, and it brought back those memories

going to movies with my boys/groups of girls, which probably isn't very common any more

no texting is probably another big one, I knew how to use it, and sent my Mom texts to tell her I wasn't coming home, but yeah, can remember sitting in the car with my homie for an hour smoking a blunt while he talked to his girl. Everyone called each other, all the time, instead of texting. And there was a very high scool script to it, that kind of mirrors the texting now

Where you at/where are you
who are you with?
what are you doing?
where are you going?

You wouldn't even really think of texting your boys. That would be weirdo shyt, I think, at the time. Stepping outside to call your Mom.

also, as an adult when you realize all those secret smoke spots were just posting in front of some families house and smoking weed, and just being obnoxious is pretty funny.

You couldn’t text all day back then, most people didn’t have unlimited text and would be waiting til after what was it, 8 or 9pm to call for free and text for cheap? :lolbron:

I tried to stay cellphone free as long as possible. “Why do yall need to know where I am all the time? If you call my room and I’m not there, leave a message or call back :yeshrug:

Miss those days, class of 05 for me.
