That's the thing, they don't. That's the problem with most people in this thread. The first time they became interested in black history was because of this man/movie and they can't fathom that anything existed before and they only know the information (false and truth) presented in the movie
I wouldn't say that.
It's just if all these historical facts are well documented and have been presented in different forms of media, why did it take a guy with a "macking background" to, in a way, popularize them or bring it to the forefront in a way that deviates from traditional presentation? Clearly their way wasn't reaching the masses like it should've been. While there may be inaccuracies like all docs, I can appreciate the delivery and its ability to captivate many. Hopefully we can build on this success moving forward. I'm not looking at HC as an end-all-be-all, but a great intro to hidden history often swept under the rug.
