I kinda think it's the difference in ":gladbron: I wanna tell this story!"

and ":francis: they paying me to tell a story"

like everything before was Mixtape Hickman, now we listening to Major Label Hickman
This, and it blatantly shows with him rehashing elements from his other work, in particular his Avengers run.

The High Council = The Illuminati
The Summoner = Black Swan
Different timelines but mutants always lose = Incursions and collapse of the multiverse

He had the right idea and strong start. X-Men needed to get back to the weirdo shyt that they were doing in the 90s and 80s. He might have taken it too far though.

Sisyphean trials :jbhmm:

Naaaaah f*ck that, they really shoehorned Moira into being a mutant :pachaha:

It works and the story they told using it was good. Essentially her power is multiple lives (with a cap) that she can remember every time. It sounds OP on paper but she still ended up wasting a bunch of them or basically doing the same thing because there's just only so much you can control. This whole shyt kicked off because she finally went to Charles on the 10th? life and showed him how mutants take the L everytime. Sometimes sooner, sometimes way way later.

I dropped X-Men. At the comic shop on Wednesday when one of the employees was pulling my box, I told him to remove X-Men from my pull list. I don't like the fact that Moira is now a mutant and that EVERY mutant is welcome on Krakoa. I mean it's obvious that Krakoa is effecting the mutants because a lot are acting out of character but I'm not really enjoying what I'm reading. I mean it's different than what we've had in decades but I'm just not feeling it. I actually was enjoying the last Uncanny run with Cyclops putting the team back together and him and Logan were rocking their old costumes again. It felt fun and I was excited. If something good pops off I'll check it out but I'm done with X-Men for now.
I liked that run too. I think the biggest casualty to Hickman's run was X-Men Red. That was my favorite X-book at the time and it was just getting started.

I’ve been wondering what happened to this run. My brothers were hyped but I just didn’t see how this was sustainable.

HoX and PoX felt like it should be a self contained arc.

The Krakoa stuff is different but it’s too wild to be the mainline concept other writers take and run with. Morrison was the last major shakeup that I could see someone running with and Marvel quickly went nah and reverted back to Claremont style.
