Heroin: How Quickly Do You Feel its Effects?

Seriously, this has always baffled me. Especially in movies where you see fiends shooting up and almost instantly go into mode, and how the fukk do actors know how to react when that heron hits that vein? You tellin me they taking practice shots in preparation for a role?

They are actors. They can fake it.

I had a suspect who had heroin in a small container. Between when store security had him and when we arrived, he consumed whatever heroin he had in his mouth, not injected. He was sober while we were talking, but his alertness started declining. By the time he was in my car and we were on the way to the jail (arrested for shoplifting), he was very high, out-of-it, and just staring out the passenger window. I could have punched him and we wouldn't not have recollected that event. So, I guess, taken orally, it would get absorbed into the blood system through the stomach. That took maybe about 5-10 minutes.
