This is because most public High schools do not prepare it's students for college. I know a lot of people including myself who struggled at first in college. I didn't even know how to study properly out of highschool.

Being an educated black man is seen as something that makes one soft or feminine. Being an educated black women adds to womanhood in the black community. A black woman getting her degree is another mark of being an independent, strong black woman.
.

about the black women.. that's true.

About black men... that's not as true as it used to be. . Things are starting to change and come around to common sense. N1ggas being successful in anyway (good career or some random hustle) is mostly OK. The days of n1ggas getting clowned for being educated is nearly over.

I was on academic probation my first year at MI State. The classes were very easy; it's just that HS only trains you to turn in random assignments and you can earn a Good HS GPA without too much effort and SAT scores are fake -I scored high as sh1t. I am a good test taker and not even as bright as the test suggest.

I wish I would have went to private school- they prepare you for higher education.

My highschool was so easy. Teachers were horrible. Most days I dIdn't even have homework. I studied for maybe two Tests in total. college is challenging.

First of all... :wtf: are they doing in Mesa, AZ.

Mesa is on the outskirts of Phoenix, I seem to remember it being the joint that all the black folks attended. The rest of Phoenix is filled with suburban trash or the Mexican/Native population.

I understand where you are coming from. I'm telling you this as someone who is involved with companies in the Houston area and in higher education. A lot of young black men understand that college is important, everybody knows that these days but it does not mean they will make it a priority. I go to college graduations A LOT and black women are about 70% of the blacks graduating. It was like that when I did my undergrad and grad programs. A good number of black men attempt college, a lot don't graduate. Younger black men quit due to lack of focus or wanting a quick money fix that can't be sustained long-term. Going to college for some is about going to parties and getting at girls. That is OK, whites do the same but keeping their eye on the big picture is harder for them. Trust me, I spend A LOT of my time talking to young black men about going to school and helping them understand the game. Some get it, most don't. As they get older and go through a struggle, then some come to their senses. I noticed that black veterans are very driven to get their education. Of course, many take advantage of GI Bill benefits though.

this is true, but colleges in general and especially cc's are poorly run from top to bottom. You are paying for a sub par eduction and instruction, it's really unfair to students.
