I would say that you first track what your resting metabolic rate is and what you eat normally (you can use apps like myfitnesspal or fatsecret, which will ask you questions to help with this).
After a few days of tracking, see if your normal diet and portions are going over your daily calorie limit. If it is, then adjust what you eat accordingly.
I tell most of my female friends who aren't a fattie, but want to lose some squish to up their lean protein and water, and reduce the sweets, and they usually see some progress within a month.
If jogging is your thing and it makes you feel good, then you can do that. I hate jogging, so I'll do some HIIT sessions on other cardio machines for 15-20 mins around once or twice a week and be done with it.
I mostly lift heavy free weights for caloric burn, and eat a high protein, low starch diet. Progress always turns out nicely if I'm consistent with it.
I actually didnt exercise after having my son. So the weight came off SLOW over 3 years, just by me eating better. I was at 180 for a while. Started exercising in January of last year and got to 160 by May.
Stopped working out(got lazy), and I've been at 160 ever since.

my wife is pregnant right now and she's at 208 and isn't due until September and i'm trying to get her in the 150ish range when she's able to start working out again. Thanks for sharing your story, this is encouraging.
Thanx, but I do want to share with u.
A man can never understand how pregnancy changes the body. Weight won't come off in a blink of an eye. And she also might not be able to get back to 150.
I've been STUCK @ 160 for a year now. I tried all types of diets, exercises, fast, shakes, and every time I got on the scale it was still "u still 160 boo"!
Definitely encourage her, workout with her if u want. But don't push her because u want her to be a certain weight. It might and might not happen. Or it might not happen as fast as u like. Tell her you want her to be healthy!
Good luck and Congrats on the baby!
We have to move around. Many of us have jobs that require us to sit in the same place all day. This isnt conducive to losing weight. Please go on walks during your breaks friends. Please go to the gym after work friends. Please stop eating filth after the age of 30 friends. Lets be in better shape. You never know when you'll need the natural strength God has blessed you with to perform an amazing feat that may save a friend, or God forbid your own life.
appreciate the words and yea, i'm not going to push her when it comes to a particular weight, that's all on her and i'll be encouraging and we'll work out together. That's the key. I work out for different reasons than her but i'll definitely adjust to work out with her and do things w/her that will make her happy and to know i'm by her side throughout it all
