I’m sick of local media and fanbase acting like Dak needs more help. This is fine.

The top paid QB of all time who finished 2nd in MVP voting in 2023 should be able to get to 4k yards and 30+ TDs with ease with this cast and a solid OL. He should be able to mount drives that let our defense play with a lead.

Paying a guy record 60 a year only for everybody to treat him like he’s Alex Smith and needs more explosive weapons. No. He needs to play like the guy he and the front office claim he is.

Brady won SBs in the early 2000s with role players at the skill spots. McNabb made conference title games with Avant and Baskett and Pinkston and Thrash. Cam almost went undefeated and made the SB with Ginn and Olsen. Dak has CeeDee.

He should be able to throw guys open and take advantage of the attention CeeDee draws.

Yea, you can't be the highest paid QB and then demand high draft picks and big time free agents at every skill position to help you out.
Sure, I'd like the FO to make good decisions and get draft steals but when your QB makes that type of money, that's team carrying territory.
That's stealing playoff wins territory.

Not surprised.

Fans tend to have their own pet cats, so if the team doesn't draft the players THEY want, to them it was a failure.

They don't factor in scheme fit, medical evaluations, interviews etc. Sometimes a guy will be "a name" you recognize and watched play, but that guy simply isn't the right fit for a team.

Now there are times when you just go with a baller regardless (Taco vs TJ Watt comes to mind).....but there were no TJ Watt's getting passed up this time.

Cowboys got 3, first round-level guys in R1/2/3. Filled in some needs later too. Didn't reach for anyone. They usually are best when going BPA versus trying to force-fill a need.

Watching

Well, 1st of all, I don't want to, make an evaluation, but we thought in evaluating him extremely high in this draft. Now obviously we have Dak at the highest paid player in the league.. that right there. But I have an edge. I know the winner that he's gotten his bloodline. I do know that. And consequently, with my first-hand knowledge, with my relationships over years with Deion, and I've watched two or thee ballgames with his son.

And so with my knowledge, I know what the character is there, and boy, it is a great character. It is, it is an unbelievable competitive winning character for sports. And so I can tell you that, I know I don't know how many scouts have visited me about the character of the Sanders group, but they should. It is up with the very best that's ever been in sport. And everything Deion has ever done, and he, by the way, I'm a big believer in osmosis, a huge believer in osmosis."

Jones went on to relay a story of Deion Sanders' actions back int he mid-1990s at his introductory press conference with the Cowboys, playing with his kid in the locker room, his "genuine" love shown for his family. Jones believes this is the foundation for Shedeur's character.

I'm at the very top if we've been into scouting, we've been interviewing people with that family. I stand at the top of the list. I don't even need it in writing with Deion, at all. And I know that's not far from the tree there with him. And so I know what his stature is.
Well you say, where are you Jerry (in picking Sanders)? Well, now you're right. Scratch your head. Was obvious. Dak.. we're there. So that's there, but those calls light up if they happen to come my way. They're gonna talk first-hand knowledge of my experiences with him and my life with him over the last 20 - 30 years, and it hadn't been one time, two times, three times it's been several times. And so I'm a big person about the character of the Sanders family.
