I dont think a down year prevents a QB getting paid or gets paid less

NFL contract numbers are always around the market value. You almost never have bargains. Your guy resets the market.
Zero chance this turnover machine is getting the same deal today from the Cowboys or any team around the league. They jumped the gun on this deal and it's going to anchor this franchise for the rest of the decade.

Will McClay has the best job in the NFL. He’s been VP of Player Personnel since 2017, and has the luxury of never having to take blame for bad decisions. Jones overpays to keep him so he wouldn’t leave to take a GM position. He gets paid like a GM with zero risk.

Sad as hell when San Fran got mofos that been shot, enter the game and contribute. As well as a 4th rd rb that produced.
