I'm not mad it though, we need more artists to speak on it. There are some conscious gangsta rappers out there.

i'll be honest, im neither here nor there with it. im not fully engaged in the music like i once was. nor do i "love" it like i once did

old me would've been passionate about something like this.

but i got more important things in life to be passionate about now.

Most conscious rappers aren't that good and backpack rappers had lots of songs geared towards unconscious thought.

Listen to these songs.

Good songs but absolutely nothing conscious about them while being under the label of a so-called conscious spiritual rapper. Essentially, there's no difference between a lot of conscious rap and mainstream stuff. It's just PR. That's why it died, because a lot of it wasn't "conscious" to begin with.

I still listen but i'm looking for more storytelling and music with some kind of meaning to it. I just went into Neek Bucks music and it's more street stuff mixed in with soulful going thru life stuff.

The problem with conscious rap is them nikkas don’t make music that’s easily digestable and fun to listen too. Listen to Kendrick or Lupe’s last albums. The avg Joe ain’t tryna hear it cause most of them shyts ain’t fun to listen too. Nikkas need to copy the Public Enemy formula of banging beats and simple yet hard hitting lyrics If they want conscious rap to come back.

Then X Clan was next:francis:
Weren't X-Clan always kinda underground?
Poor Righteous Teachers is another group in that lane that's been forgotten about. Lord Jamar kept Brand Nubian's name relevant.

We need more relevant rappers and personalities speaking on it. Not someone who was barely semi-relevant himself in the 2000s.

when ppl say backpack rap i think about blackmoon and that whole college hoodie era. a dude named buckshot lol. artifacts and bboy shyt like that. i think even epmd did the backpack and timbs shyt for a minute
Most conscious rap ain't exactly b-boy shyt. Maybe someone joints.
