Couple songs came on in the shuffle and I'm glad I gave it a shot awhile back.

Listened to Diplomatic Ties. First two tracks had me like, “Dipset is BACK!!” :banderas:

Then I heard the rest of the album and :gucci:. Average at best. Jimmy did his thing and the production was good but Cam and especially Juelz weren’t up to par. And I fukk with Cam and Juelz heavy.

Then I learn that JR Writer released a tape on the same day as Diplomatic Ties. I was like :dwillhuh: . Always liked Writer’s lyricism so I give it a listen.

Not only is Writer in it, but Rell and 40? A-Mafia and Tom Gist too?! Breeeehhh:ohhh:

So-called Dipset “B-Team” straight washed the core members. It ain’t even close. :whoo:

Writer going in. Rell swagging out. 40 keeping up with both. A-Mafia spitting bars. Tom Gist was dope. :whew:

Still a fan of the core Dipset members (Cam, Juelz, Jim, Freaky) but, as of right now, the “B-Team” is carrying the Dipset brand right now. They are the spitters of the squad. No question. If the core members are smart, they’ll collab with the B-Team, and either step up their pen game or let the spitters lead the charge.

Major shout out to Writer, Rell, 40, A-Mafia, and Tom Gist for holding it down and giving the fans that shyt we’ve been waiting for a minute.
:salute:

Props. Exactly how I felt. The Upstage actually made me revisit (and some even listen for the first time) the latter member Dipset albums, and I was surprised by what I either missed out on originally, or gave a passing listen to. Hell Rell, 40, A-Mafia, and Tom Gist all sound like they did 10 years ago. JR Writer sounds a bit different, but can still rap his ass off.

NYC and FBA Riverboat Retaliation
will watch later, still don't know why the prime members act like the b-team didn't exist
I really think it's a clash of egos at the heart of it bc if they could have a joint collabo with everybody, that would have done numbers. Sad bc all of them brought some contribution to the dynamic. It's not like the streets didn't want it to happen, as far as the fans. I mean, ultimately, if you rock with one, then you rock with them all, I don't see or hear too many people that like JR and Hell but don't like Cam and vice versa.

Reading between the lines, I think the "B team" guys were offered an opportunity to be on the album, WITHOUT compensation. If Jim was the one putting this album together, then this is highly believable.

They definitely proved they don't need to be thirsty for a "look". If they all work together, everyone needs to be compensated.
