They are trying to wash the image of a black man in high office (Pres Obama) out of their minds. Even though Obama did not do anything specifically for black people, just the image of a black president goes against the ideals of White Supremacy.

I remember when parents wouldn't let their kids go to the school the day that Obama was going to speak to the kids via TV. :heh:

I will play as someone who is always interested in reading slave narratives. Why should I not watch this, and why does that make me a c00n to be interested in this part of our history? I know this isn't the only part of our history, but just interested in the stories from "our" perspective from that time period. Is this some white pleasure film about putting blacks in their place? Seems like this will make white people mad.

Because it's one sided. Slavery was apart of our history - aint no one denying this. But that's all to our story? We were just slaves? Or is that's just what they want to portray? We are bombarded with these images for a reason. Where's our story about Taharqa, Akhenaten or Mansa Musa. We have a rich past and since we dont control our images - we are at mercy of those who run the film industry and their perception of us.

It's all about context. The film, standing alone, is probably good, but we gotta peep when there is some fukkery being thrown at us. Media is very powerful.

And also the big thing is a some of these stories are being told thru the lens of a white writer or director and the white savior character is employed to make white folks digest that bitter pill the story tells and absolve them of straight guilt.

We don't know if this guy is white, non-black, or just doesn't respect the depth of black/African history.

If he doesn't recognize it then let him enjoy the movie. Use this energy to explain it to people close to you so that they can see what's going on.

I assumed he was black. This is the coli tho. I forgot where I was at haha

Lately I just build with cats who already have the same mindest as me or are at least interested in moving towards it. To too late in the day to argue or try to convince dudes - white or black.

you know whats really awkward bro, hearing jay z perform "jigga what jigga who" and motioning the mic to a 90% white crown to say "n1gga" during the chorus

unrelated post, but i just felt weird as fukk about that. he 43 yrs old, he either dont know no better or is part of the "agenda against blacks"

We blacks need to look up to intellectuals like scientists, philosophers, engineers, doctors, and lawyers. I would be weary if my children idolized a rapper, singer, ball player, or actor. These people are typically shills who conform to the will of their white bosses (i.e.: team owner, studio head, executive producer, etc.). Many of these rappers, actors and singers had to make extreme compromises and betray their own ideals in order to be signed onto a studio or record label (having a train run on you in a yacht by a cabal of Jewish bankers somewhere off the coast of southern France). These losers have no self-respect.

I applaud Nas for making Illmatic -- one of the greatets rap albums of all time. But when he co-signed Gwyneth Paltrow (a Jew nevertheless) saying '******' I immediately threw all of his albums in the trash. This is why you don't drop out of the 8th grade ladies and gentlemen.

Jay-Z is an unimaginative, overaged repressed fakkit who, even with the help of Viagra and Cialis, still couldn't get Beyonce pregnant. The couple had to resort getting a sperm doner from a JJ Evans stunt double.

Nicki Minaj...

Lil Wayne...

Tyler Perry....I don't even have to say shyt about this downlow ATL 'brotha'.

These are our heroes? They don't have any self-respect and don't know any better. c00ning is at an all time high in America and we're leeting the uncle toms and racists white people get away with it. The black community is defragmented and we could never join together and be organized behind a progressive cause. But when it comes to bullshyt like All-Star Weekend or recording a fight for worldstar hip hop we're organized like a mother fukker.

McQueen is a great director, and one of the best Black filmmakers out. This will be better than Django (and nah, it wasn't inspired by or sparked by Django, either.)

Blame the success of Django. Sadly many individuals enjoy films about men in chains and shackles being beat and demoralized.

Its so demonic, friends.
