Mother Of Fallen Soldier: ‘President Trump Did Disrespect My Son’
To add another ripple to President
Donald Trump’s latest ‘He-Said, She-Said battle’, the mother of the Green Beret killed in Niger told the
Washington Post that Rep.
Frederica Wilson’s depiction of the call made to the fallen soldier’s widow was accurate.
Wilson has been
blasting Trump on cable news Wednesday over comments the president allegedly made to the widow of Sgt.
La David T. Johnson that made her cry during a call intended to console her.
Trump
hit back at Wilson on Twitter, accusing her of fabricating the story (and claiming to have “proof”). Well, the
Post reached out to Johnson’s mother, who was also present during the call, and confirmed Wilson’s account.
Per the
Post:
Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told The Washington Post on Wednesday that she was in the car during the call from the White House and that “President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband.”
Jones-Johnson, speaking to The Post via Facebook Messenger, declined to elaborate.
But asked whether Wilson’s account of the conversation between Trump and the family was accurate, she replied: “Yes.”
The White House did not confirm or deny Wilson’s account on Tuesday.
When prompted for a response the White House replied (ironically??), “The President’s conversations with the families of American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice are private.”
