You couldn't pay me to watch the damn BET Awards...lolim going to have to watch tonight episode after the BET awards
Who said dramas can't be fiction? I know the nfl would not allow a "serious drama" that would Paint them in a bad light. If it's labeled a comedy people will take it less serious. So now drama's can't be fiction?
Enjoy the show, but don't make up excuses for it's lack of humor. It's trying to be funny, the first episode was not.

What part of the first episode was trying to be funny?

They are using the names of real nfl teamsIt's been pointed out in here that the NFL didn't "allow" anything with regards to this show. This comedy-in-name-only bs is the worst defense on here. From the country bumpkin frat boy to the swears in the prayer to Rob Courdy's whole existence, there were jokes throughout the first episode. You just didn't laugh cuz wasn't much funny

Dolphins have no comment on HBO’s use of team name and logos in Ballers
“HBO is always mindful of other intellectual property owners, but in this context there is no legal requirement to obtain their consent,” an HBO spokesman told PFT on Sunday.
Apart from the question of whether HBO can legally use NFL team names and logos is the question of whether HBO wants to jeopardize its relationship with the NFL via theHard Knocks series. Depending on the specific language of the HBO-NFL contract, the league could characterize the conduct as a breach of the license provided by the NFL to use team names and logos on the air. At a minimum, the NFL could be less inclined to renew the relationship with HBO once the contract expires, shifting the series to another network, like CBS-owned Showtime.
Look for the issue to stay under the radar until Ballers premieres in 13 days. By then, chances are the NFL, the Dolphins, or both will have something to say.

Playmakers was a serious show that painted the nfl in a bad light. Ballers is a comedy and will probably attempt to show some truth in a more light hearted way.I thought the same thing until...
Regardless, Playmakers actually was a drama and didn't use NFL names yet they still squashed it, so I don't even get your point.
