Because the cable companies that carry HBO would be calling for their heads..

But hopefully something like that is in the works in the near future once contracts expire.
You think HBO would stand to make more money by going to a straight Netflix type service than teaming up with the cable companies?

y doesn't hbo.. just offer a stream only service.. id pay 10 bucks a month sure alot of people would

I agree. But all you gotta do is find someone with HBO and use their login for HBOgo. Even if someone doesn't have it, if they have cable tell them you'll shoot them $10 a month to add HBO and use their login. I think HBO is only like an extra $15 a month outside of a package anyway. It's still a win/win

HBO's catalog of shows is so deep in quality that the three year wait isn't that big a deal. Cats can eat off of legit classic programming that blows most of the offerings on Netflix and the like out of the water. You know how many people haven't seen classics like Rome or Deadwood(granted they weren't listed in the article but I'd be shocked if they're not on there with them offering The Sopranos)?

That said, a standalone HBOGO app is really what would crush the proverbial buildings especially if they have live streaming

Amazon trying to strong arm the streaming game. What if down the road they get at HBO on some, "come fukk with us, fukk those cable companies" type shyt and acquire all of their content for Prime?

Netflix would be :dead:
Netflix wouldn't trip as long as they keep signing up new subscribers and coming with new quality original programming. I'm sure they expect/expected HBO to break away from cable sooner or later. Any business, big or small, has to anticipate their (so called) competitions next move.

No way you get Game Of Thrones quality production type shows if HBO went just strictly streaming. Those episodes cost atleast 6 million a piece to make. I'm interested in seeing what production value those Netflix Marvel shows will have. You don't have to show much with "House of Cards" or "Orange is the New Black"...
