It's the best example, even though Don Draper leads anything but an ordinary life.

The story behind his past isn't normal I agree, but being a big shot businessman, womanizer, semi alcoholic, divorcé in the 60's doesn't really involve a stretch of the imagination.

but remember that started with that crazy double identity storyline. ( edit: I cp'd the first sentence lol)

Still, I agree, that's a great character-driven story. In a league all it's own.

I also think that him being a powerful business man really helps. Treme's just a bunch of regular folks. At least watching Carcetti's rise would involve a powerful politician.

Yeah the political shyt in the wire was boring along with the newspaper shyt. The politics shyt was god awful in season 3 but got a little better in season 4 when Norman came along. The dude who played Carcetti just wasn't a good fit for the role.
I dont think a spinoff would be a good idea...but i can't agree with any of this shyt.

The ratings were a reason for season five being the way it was. A couple of loose ends and HBO rushing Simon to finish the show. Season five left a bad taste in my mouth but its understandable with HBO basically pulling the plug. A spin-off would had been good regardless if it was a politic one just based off them being able to tie up things from The Wire and bring a sense of better closure.

.a spinoff focused on the schools/kids woulda been piff..

came here to say that--- no show has ever really showed how school really is (drugs/sex/violence/cuss words).. whenever schools r introduced its a sitcom.

Treme had promise (still not as bad as john in cincinnati) but it's run its course. Im ready to see another crime series set in modern day though, or take a chance on sci-fi, Hell even a wall street type series on some gordon gecko type shyt. I hate that they pulled the plug on how to make it in america though.

I always wondered why they never do shows about finance/trading/banking.

You got legal shows (Suits, Boston Legal, Franklin & Bash), cop shows (Law & Order, Common Law), doctor shows (Grey's Anatomy, ER), fire fighter shows (Rescue Me). shyts weird.

Watched Treme's premier yesterday. Too little overall plot movement. It's been two seasons and hasn't really gone anywhere.

Damn, was I the only one who liked Carcetti? :ld:

I liked Carcetti a lot too. There were a lot of interesting dynamics to his character.

They could have continued the storyline with the schools too and the budget issues they faced

Damn :noah:

I wouldve loved that. They coulda had little cameos from people too, like the big titty PAWG that managed Carcettis campaign :damn:

I think only a premium channel can pull that off because too many financial institutions advertise with cable channels, but there's a million documented incidents in the financial sector that they can draw from. Lets hope somebody is thinking like us breh.
