never watched Treme apart from a few episodes.. surprised its now on its third season.
how they keep Treme but cancelled How To Make It In America.

How To Make It In America and Girls for the hipsters on a sunday would've got ratings for HBO.

I don't get HBO either. Sometimes I go to my parents house and they got it there. I watched a couple of Boardwalk Empire episodes but didn't like it.

Old gangster/mafia movies don't interest me that much but I love Mafia stuff from like the 50s/60s onwards. That was the heyday and most interesting time for me. Between the 60s and 80s. I'm also a Sopranos fanatic. My favorite HBO show along with OZ.

I love both Jill's show and Treme, so it's all gravy to me.

I get why people here don't like Treme though. It's a character-driven show and nobody's getting shot or killed.

Lol, it's not just people here, people in general don't like it.

As far as successful dramas go, police/crime/legal dramas as well as hospital dramas reign supreme. Political dramas also have a pretty good track record along with fantasy-driven dramas. What those all have in common is crazy, interesting shyt can happen, with regularity without the show losing its integrity.

It's hard to pull that off with a show about normal people. I can't think of a drama that has successfully pulled this off.... soul food, maybe?

HBO doesn't make its decisions on whether or not to cancel a show based purely on ratings. If that was the case The Wire and Treme would've been cancelled after 1 season. They'll give a critically-acclaimed show more episodes if it don't cost them much.

HTMIIA wasn't getting ratings and people didn't like it, so it got thrown in the bushes.

Yeah the political shyt in the wire was boring along with the newspaper shyt. The politics shyt was god awful in season 3 but got a little better in season 4 when Norman came along. The dude who played Carcetti just wasn't a good fit for the role.

Yeah I disagree with just about the whole post. Thought they played that Carcetti storyline perfectly from start to finish, even in Season 5. And the dude who played Carcetti was great.

ill watch anything HBO put on my plate sunday night..........except the newsroom :scusthov:

I forced myself to watch the entire first season of newsroom...just off the strength that for some reason beyond my comprehension a gang of my people on twitter were gassed off it every sunday...I finish watching BB and hit twitter to see what people are saying and they're all talking bout Newsroom :why:

I would've watched a Carcetti spin off though...but would prefer it didn't happen till the Wire was done
