Would've been amazing, but like Simon said, they weren't gonna put another show similar to the Wire on when the Wire wasn't getting ratings.

The Wire wasn't doing all that in ratings if I recall correctly. They basically gave it a final season as a courtesy to the fans didn't they?

The Wire got more notoriety after it ended, I know a lot of people who just recently started watching it and got hooked

A spinoff would do better numbers (even though a series based solely on Carcetti sounds kinda wack), I mean shyt who is really watching Treme not even Wire fans like that shyt

Treme had promise (still not as bad as john in cincinnati) but it's run its course. Im ready to see another crime series set in modern day though, or take a chance on sci-fi, Hell even a wall street type series on some gordon gecko type shyt. I hate that they pulled the plug on how to make it in america though.

There's no way Treme is getting better ratings than The Wire.

I can understand passing on a Wire spin-off in the name of ratings, but a political drama would've done way better than Treme. In fact, with a white protagonist and a great writer like Simon, I'd say it would've done better than The Wire, ratings-wise. Doing it while The Wire was still on the air would have been risky, but it may've even boosted The Wire's ratings.
