I already have HBO so my perspective is probably skewed cause I'm looking at the non HBO shows but of everything that they can offer they leave a ton to be desired.
Like why is their Cartoonnetwork selection so small?
No Static, Freakazoid, Animaniacs or any of that. It's a lot to be desired. If other spots have streaming rights to those shows than OK but this shyt aint offering anything special thay I dont already have.

A lot of that stuff CAN come there in the future obviously, but there are also rights we don't know about. Or rights already licensed elsewhere. Animaniacs is on hulu now and will be for the foreseeable future, including the new iteration of the show. so it can' the on HBO Max because of a previous deal. Static is on DC universe, and im not sure what the status is of freakazoid or any other WB produced show from that era that's lost to DVD.

I know we as fans think this shyt is easy but there are a lot of lawyers involved who make a lot of money figuring out who owns what and how they can make money from it

They were probably banking on the hbo series that got pushed back to be their signatures.

:wow:Been feasting off of this service for a few days. Its like a perfect blend of arthouse, mainstream, and good HBO content I could lay my eyes on. My only gripe with this service is the lack of OG HBO content (Tales From the Crypt, Dream On, Real Sex:shaq:, and some of those Families and Crisis shows from the 90s). Also the Anime section is ass. How you work out a deal with Cruchyroll but only have a skimpy ass selection of the WOAT material :scust:

Overall, it's WAY better than Disney+ and a good alternative if you don't want to deal with the monopoly of Netflix.

I was rewatching some episodes of my favorite season of MADtv, and in the first episode they did a parody of the Survivor season where the teams were separated by race. They had four teams: the Asian team (Team Soy Sauce), the Mexican team (Team Burrito), the Black team (Team Chicken and Waffles), and the White team (Team White Bread). It's split into three parts aired throughout the episode, and in part 2 the teams get an item to start a fire. Whichever team started a fire first won.

The Asian team got a lighter.

The Mexican team got a match.

The Black team got a glass of water.

The White team got a box full of matches, sticks, wood, gasoline, and lighter fluid.

MADtv used to get called 'dumb' compared to SNL and Chappelle's Show, but damn if that is not a near perfect analogy for race in America. :wow:

I take it Disney+ and HBO Max were not prepared for the shutdowns because it seems to have completely stalled any original content they were working on.

Meanwhile, Netflix is releasing new piff weekly... :gucci:

But people said these other services were "Netflix killers"

People on this same page as a matter of fact were spitting that nonsense :dahell:

I've been binging Soprano's which is ironic because it's actually free on regular HBO Now w/o subscription. They need to address their interface because it is basic video playing functionality that is missing
  • Cannot fast forward
  • Cannot skip intros
  • If you hit the rewind 15 seconds button 2-3x, it buffers
  • If you are binging and the episode freezes for some reason (has happened a few times for me), if you hit the refresh button, it reloads a prior episode.
    • There is not even a button to skip to the next episode, so you have to manually drag the cursor to the end of the episode to choose the next episode

I think I'll watch the GOAT football movie this weekend on HBO Max.
