They will keep them separate for the time being during the transitional period but if you have HBO Now like me then you get HBO MAX for free.

As of right now, they haven't announced anything if you are only getting internet through ATT, although it wouldn't shock me if they announce a discount at a later date.

Currently it is

Have HBO Now (standalone HBO streaming), you basically just upgrade to HBO Max since it is the same price
Have HBO through pay cable provided via ATT (Direct TV, Uverse), you get it for free
Have HBO through an unlimited ATT cell phone plan, you get it for free

Millions of HBO and HBO Now subscribers will get HBO Max for free
