HBO Max will have 1,800 movies at launch. In the first year, the film selection will include all the films in “The Matrix,” “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” franchises as well as all titles in the last 10 years from DC Entertainment, including every Superman and Batman movie ever made. Recently released hit “Joker” starring Joaquin Phoenix will be available at launch..

and in year one, titles from DC Entertainment will join them, including every Superman and Batman movie. Recently released hit “The Joker” will be available at launch.

guess that means DC universe is gone in a year

I have the HBO subscription on cable and HBOGo so I should be good :blessed:

so is this replacing HBO Now or whatever or is that going to see a price cut

If you don't subscribe to HBO Now or an AT&T-owned provider, the situation is less clear.

AT&T is still in talks with other pay TV providers about offering HBO Max to their traditional HBO subscribers. That means subscribers who get HBO from linear providers such as Comcast, Spectrum, Dish Network, as well as streamers like Hulu, Amazon Prime Video Channels, Apple TV Channels and The Roku Channel, will have to wait to see whether they too can get Max for free.

AT&T did say that during the transition to HBO Max, existing HBO-branded services will continue to be offered via cable and other traditional outlets. Those services include HBO Go, the app that currently allows existing HBO subscribers to stream HBO programming. In other words, AT&T isn't forcing customers to migrate to HBO Max, although eventually it expects them to do so naturally.[\QUOTE]

Basically HBO Go will be no more and Max is the new standalone with WB hoping cable companies does the same. It’s common sense, especially when both are offered at the same price. It will give WB their subscriber count, and the consumers more reasons to stick with HBO.

Im curious about the global launch of this thing

That was one of the botches of DC Universe. I've got to imagine Disney Plus knows it has to roll this thing out internationally very soon despite deals with channels overseas for some content. Netflix has regional versions of itself to avoid that but Im curious to see what HBO Max's strategy is.
I would like to think they see the benefit of selling it to international customers as some people who have AT&T/HBO/Time Warner cable are apparently getting it for free

So are these shows only gonna be on HBO Max and not regular HBO on TV?

Looking around it seems like they're making deals with local cable companies internationally so the HBOMAX shows will just be an add on to regular HBO.

Depends on the show, HBO Max will have everything that standard HBO has, but there will be shows that are only available on HBO Max. The service is going to be the same price as HBO Now, so it's no reason why you wouldn't just switch your subscription over to HBO Max though.
