On wanting to jump to WCW at one point during the Monday Night Wars: "I thought about it. But there's two things -- I went to Vince [McMahon] and said, 'Let me go. I'm miserable here. I wanna go down and be with my buddies.'"

On Vince McMahon talking him out of it: "[Vince] said no. I'm under contract under WWE, so I couldn't. But, there was a time I wanted to go. He said, 'You're a creative guy. Once you get past being angry and it comes to working, you want to do things your way. They won't let you do that down there, and that's going to kill you. They'll [kill] the one thing about this business you enjoy.' I think he had some validity there."

I am gonna guess this was when he took hiatus mid 97 before Summerslam. So possible timeline changes would be:

-DX never gets formed or replacement top star is needed
-HHH would probably have been buried even more than he was before DX
-HBK joins nWo
-Bret Hart doesn't jump ship (HBK politics to Bischoff they don't need him, Vince finds a way to make Bret's contract more affordable, Vince more motivated to keep Bret, as HBK was one of their top stars would now be gone, Bret hated Shawn and wouldn't wanna jump now)
-Replacement top heel is needed as champ, who can build with Austin upto WM so he can begin his run. Hart/Austin had already been done by this time.

I think had he left no screwjob, no DX, HHH's career is negatively affected w/o having HBK by his side (possibly defects as well?) and Hart/Austin III for the title at WM14 is the main event.

No Mr. Mcmahon character since he was born out of the screwjob. Maybe it still happens due to increasingly antagonistic Austin.

He joins NWO and is cool with it due to the money being made or hates it because Hogan is top dawg and his relationship w/ Bischoff would be up in the air.

It's possible Goldberg's push gets harmed by KLIQ ALL DAY BABY but I think WCW might've won the war this way due to the fact that WM13 had WM worst's buyrate and those same characters would still be there the following year. HBK, WWF's 1B at the time, could only help WCW's ratings.

Jericho still leaves due to the glass ceiling.

Owen might not have died because Bret having stayed would've vetoed Blue Blazer, Rock never uses Sharpshooter because the move is supposedly thanks to Bret for sticking up for him backstage.

HIAC never happens or it's Bret in HBK's place, Hart Foundation is top stable.

No back injury meaning he might've died in the late 90s. Increased drug use and hanging with the Kliq partying maybe loses chance to impress Whisper. Due to not having time off and not marrying Whisper he doesn't become a Christian and never opens Shawn Michaels Academy therefore never training Kendrick, Bryan, and Cade.

HBGOAT was wise to take Cokeboy's advice :mjcry:. WCW fukked up everything they put their hands on post-1996.

Although maybe the tides would have shifted in a way where the two companies would still co-exist today, had HBGOAT gone South.

I still can't believe that WCW went from the brink of a monopoly to out of business within five years. :sadcam:

Wasn't the back injury the REASON for his drug abuse? I mean I know he was a "partier" but I didn't think it got too bad until after his injury
