Hbcu have always put out the best black people outside of sports recently.

Hbcu is the foundation for black sucess and are extremely important to black people to have around
I wish more black americans thought like this.

too many FBA tend to look down on HBCUs. Its terrible.

What fba do u kno? Most of our schools are underfunded and they dont give our kids much of a chance but education is very important to ados/fba people.

Alot of ados/ fba play sports because its a faster way to get out of poverty but we care about education.

And no matter who it is in the neighborhood they will tell u to get a education and go to school.

Folks sterotype fba/ados way too much

This is why we can't let the doors close on ANY of them. Is it just me or have HBCUs been struggling a lot more under the current administration :francis:

Im not sure, they are perenially struggling.

"S" in HBCUs stand for "Struggle".
Like literally on the cusp since I can remember.
You know how they say bad energy/stress is not good for health, especially continuous stress....that's how I feel about HBCUs.

I get nervous and uncomfortable when I read one is having accredidation issues or needs urgent money for this or that.

As of 2019, I could be wrong, but there are around 101 HBCUS. I don't want to see not nah one more go extinct. At least 3 have gone under since I can remember. That is a perfect amount of institutions to work on maintaining legacies. Even if you black and went to a PWI, HBCUs are still living tangible monuments to your history/legacy to keep and maintain, in whatever way.

UNCF is a blessing, but we need real monetary reinforcements. In aggregate, so many schools need 100s of millions if not a cool few billions in capital ugrades not even talking, new facilities investments. They barely standing, because the infrastructure is falling apart, and now you can't attract student and staff, because money is going into operations and maintenance. They are demographically changing too, so its an interesting dynamic taking place, but still worth the effort.

I’m transferring to NCA&T fall of 2020.

Im currently at NC state and all I can say is fukk this shyt.

people don’t know the mental toll being a black man at a pwi takes.
Come on back to Greensboro, bro. Just make sure you have a plan, and ain’t there just racking up student loan debt.

The first school I went to was NC State. I didn’t even finish a semester there. There’s nothing wrong with PWI’s, but in my experience, HBCUs cater to us better. I’ve told this story on here before, but I wouldn’t have gotten where I am without myself, my gal, and A&T

I don't see nothing wrong with a reminder or two :manny:

I feel ya.... but the fact that the majority of the black population is completely unaware that black colleges produce the overwhelming majority of black professionals doesn’t plague your mind? Not throwing shots at you, jussayin :manny:

Do it, breh, if you have a clear plan in place (as far as career path, etc)

You never too old to finish

I mostly wanna do it for networking/connections, and Honestly, I'm starting to feel bad about not having a degree. I feel like my resume/LinkedIn is incomplete. I have some business ideas, but it would be nice to have a degree to fall back on.

HBCU's have provided opportunities for a lot of Black men and women that would have not been there for them at White Institutions.

Most of those Black professors will take students under their wing from my experience, because they want to see them succeed.

You have a lot of students at HBCUs that are the first from their family to even attend college.

Integration kinda hurt HBCUs, White folks started getting the elite athletes that are generally almost always Black. That takes revenue away from Black schools and it brings millions into those White schools.

A good portion of those men and women end up not even getting degrees from those White schools.

My decision to go to Grambling State is probably one of the single best decisions I've ever made along with marrying my wife.

Breh, I just got off the phone with my girl having this same conversation. The networking alone was worth it. I can go anywhere in the states, and I’m guaranteed to run into an Aggie; an Aggie who is willing to look out and help. Hell, just by going to an HBCU, there’s other HBCU folk who look out. That’s why I stay in my HBCU paraphernalia. When another breh or Brehette sees it, it always strikes up conversation.

Go. Not to late. When I was working on my masters there were 50 and 60 year old people there. No age limit.

Get in. Get out. Give back.
