I watched the drop with tom hardy( sort of slow pace got boring at times) , night crawler with jake , equalizer with denzel Washington ,captain america the winter soldier .

had no interest in watching stories that aren't in modern times , and prefer when its not about race and just about a story . don't care about Selma and all those other movies that came out .

fruitvale station was a good movie and I won't support black movies just because there black if there not interesting , quality and relevant

None of the movies you listed are "black" movies because they don't have majority black stakeholders who would profit from the movie or majority black writers and staff members...so don't really know what you are trying to say in this thread.

Fruitvale Station and Selma qualify to some extent though; but your support only goes into the pockets of white producers and staff, so yo not supporting them is a statement against white hollywood trying to make movies about black people, not "Black" movies.

the movies that I supported are not " black" movies last year and went in knowing this , Not going to support movies like Selma and the rest that came out because there not quality. Not going to fake love a movie because it has a black cast or give it support . I reason I supported white Hollywood last year is because there making interesting stories that I wanted to watch . every black movie involves race , getting beat up or just boring try watching chris rock new movie but it was a load of rubbish this is coming from a big chris rock fan

I at least saw Get On Up.... Other than that it was kid movies with my niece

"get on up" sort of looked dumb and stupid . like the actor who was in though

About Last Night, Top Five and Beyond the Lights were all quality movies with a mostly black cast that weren't explicitly about race

And how the hell is Selma "not relevant" given the state of race relations right now? but beyond the "race thing", it's gotten great reviews and from a purely technical standpoint(acting, cinematography) its supposedly very well made.

Shyt Selma is 84 for 84 in positive reviews on RT right now. That's like unprecedented. But it's not quality?!:snoop:
Edit: It's now 89 for 89

about last night was lame the first one was good , nightcrawler the character got my attention more than kevin hart playing the same character all the time . haven't watched beyond the lights look into it and top five was again boring . if I wanted to see black people marching around I would turn on the news those sort of movies do nothing but take people mentally in the wrong direction

yeah that's because mainstream media loves to promote those sort movies they eat it up . look at annies review something that doesn't show black people looking like helpless ducks being non violent loitering

It was anything but dumb. I loved it so much that it wasn't til damn near the end of the movie that I realized that James Brown was not that tall. Chadwick Boseman did that good of a job embodying James that you completely forgot that he was a short man. And he had the James Brown speech pattern dead on.

How do you know? You haven't even seen it? It most likely is a quality film. 89 people don't agree on much.

If that's all you think the Voting Rights movement was about then you clearly don't need to watch Selma, you need to read a damn book

but anyway, as @jayshiggs said, it's pretty ridiculous for you to claim Selma is "not quality" when it has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes...and these are from white critics. this isn't another example of a shytty movie that black folks are guilt tripped into supporting (ie. Red Tails). This is a legit well-made film that anyone who appreciates quality cinema should be interested in watching.

anyway, I'm not questioning your blackness, but you sound suspiciously like a white IMDB poster who automatically 1 stars a movie with a mostly black cast 2 months before it even comes out :patrice:

I think get what you're saying here. Sometimes you just get tired of the same old musicals, dramas, and slavery flashbacks black films love to do here lately and just want a standard movie but with a black cast.

I wouldn't count out Top Five though because it looks like exactly that but I haven't seen it yet
