Bro had a range that constantly stayed in the shop, went to a showroom Tahoe and hasn’t had a problem yet...
Got me thinking about gettin a Tahoe or Yukon but I never really drive my personal cars as is so can’t justify the expense

But the reliability reputation is just too bad for me to seriously consider buying one....

Yeah. Most people who have them lease them and have a full warranty on them. If something happens take it back to the dealership for a few days.
