Hector over Means was a combination of things

- Depth at DT being more valuable due to the Jernigan situation
- being 4 deep at DE + a 21 year old Josh Sweat waiting in the cut
- throwing Means a bone with the chance to go and get real snaps somewhere and earn a nice check

Means deserves it to be honest, he's too solid to be an inactive on game days because he plays on the deepest defensive line in the league.

also Means is a vested veteran- and bc of that if they kept him and he was on the roster week 1- his salary is guaranteed. if he comes back week 2- his salary isnt guaranteed

Doug Pederson was originally not scheduled to meet with reporters on Tuesday morning but the Philadelphia Eagles head coach made a brief, surprise appearance ahead of Jim Schwartz’s press conference and officially confirmed what we’ve heard to this point: Nick Foles will be the Eagles’ starting quarterback against the Atlanta Falcons.

Pederson’s announcement comes two days after NFL Network first reported it will be Foles — and not Carson Wentz — under center for Week 1. The announcement comes one day after Pederson ripped the media for “putting words in his mouth”.

Pederson confirmed that Foles is starting week 1

Obviously wanted to see Wentz again but im pretty confident in Nick

Not like he hasn't beat the Falcons in a higher stakes game. Plus being at home and it being the first game since the SuperBowl win should be a big boost

Malcolm Jenkins and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a reworked contract, according to a report from NFL insider Field Yates. Yates reports the adjustment frees up $6.148 million in 2018 cap space for the Eagles.

To be clear, Jenkins isn’t taking a pay cut. He’s still getting the same amount of money he was always set to receive. The mutual agreement to lower his original $10.1 million cap number in 2018 comes at the expense of raising his cap hit in future years.

Prior to this move, Over The Cap had the Eagles with NEGATIVE $453,419 in cap space heading into the 2018 season. This restructure now gives the Eagles some flexibility to work with when it comes to in-season signings/trades. Maybe there’s a Brandon Graham contract extension in the cards as well? We’ll have to wait to see how the Eagles choose to use their newly freed up funds.

Jenkins is the fourth Eagles player to agree to a reworked contract in order to free up cap space this year. Zach Ertz restructured his deal to open up $5.4 million while Lane Johnson did the same to open up $7.5 million. Then Brandon Brooks agreed to rework his contract to save another $6.37 million.

Kicking the can down the road isn’t ideal but the Eagles’ hand is forced given their tight cap situation.
