Nah dude. Gigli was straight ETHER to his movie career for awhile. That movie was so bad it forced Jennifer Lopez back to music for awhile. That movie was universally reviled for a time, it tainted pretty much every movie he made afterwards. He went from being one of Hollywood's Golden Children following Good Will Hunting to its whipping boy until he bounced back in Hollywoodland

Gigli's Director, Martin Brest Career (from wiki):

His major studio debut was 1979's Going in Style, which starred George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg, the first of several films to mix action and comedy to great effect. Brest was then hired to direct the film WarGames, but was fired during production.[1]

Brest got his big break in 1984 with Beverly Hills Cop, starring Eddie Murphy. The film grossed over $300 million and received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Brest followed up with 1988's Midnight Run, starring Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin, a critical and commercial success. The film earned Golden Globe nominations for both De Niro and the film itself.

His work on 1992's Scent of a Woman earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Drama. The film also won Golden Globes for Al Pacino and Bo Goldman, the screenwriter. In addition, the film was nominated for several Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, for which Al Pacino took home the prize.

It was six years before Brest would return with Meet Joe Black, a remake of Death Takes a Holiday, starring Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. The film received mixed reviews and while it had a disappointing domestic box office return of $44,619,100, it fared much better overseas, taking in an additional $98,321,000 for a worldwide total of $142,940,100.[2]

In 2003, Brest wrote and directed Gigli, starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. After a protracted battle between studio and director, a radically revised and re-shot version of the original film was released. It became a notorious flop, with a scathing critical reception and disastrous box office performance. In the ensuing years since its release, Gigli has frequently been cited as among the worst movies ever made.

In 2009, his New York University student film, Hot Dogs for Gauguin, was one of 25 films chosen by the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress to "be preserved as cultural, artistic and/or historical treasures".[3]

Brest has not made a film since 2003 after Gigli.

He fukked around and became too known for who he was dating, and not for being an actor.

Being a talented director has really been his saving grace. He wouldn't have been able to make his comeback without that.

I ain't mad at him. Dude is making the kinds of movies he wants to see, and is casting himself in good roles...he's pretty much in the perfect position, at a relatively young age too.

When is that Mel Gibson comeback coming?

Man, it's gonna take a miracle for them Jews to let him back in....

Although...he did have this rumored Viking project that he was working on for a long time....if he ever got funding for that, watch out. Imagine his style of filmmaking, that ultraviolent shyt he's been on...mixed in with Viking mythology and lore...:whew: Even I have to admit that shyt might be tough brehs.

Ben Affleck always was okay with me. Very limited actor, but after South Park shytted on him and Gigli bombed hard, it was just the cool thing to hate on him.

Plus drunk Affleck :smugbiden:

I actually like the Sum of All Fears, I was hoping he'd continue with Jack Ryan. Haven't seen Argo yet but I like The Town as well. Although Jeremy Renner was the star in that

Around 'Gigli', 'Jersey Girl', and 'Daredevil' he just went too Hollywood, he was heading that way since 'Armageddon', while Damon made much better choices, he just went full retard with it, in the middle 2000's, plus the tabloid about him and JLO, he was the same dude, he just kinda lost his way, as a talented actor, writer, etc, for a few years. He came back in 2007, with 'Gone Baby Gone', I think that is the best of the three he did, 'The Town' was the slickest, cleanest, easiest to watch, but I think 'Gone' is his best work as a director.

'Changing Lanes' as def. an exception though, that was a good role, and a dope movie.
I though his brother did Gone Baby Gone...
