You're right in stating that ANY smoking will cause lung damage. However, Thr active ingredient in pot can be isolated and extracted into pure hash which can be used to make edibles (food) or hash which can be vaporized (no smoke). There are plenty of healthy ways to ingest THC. Also - if you don't smoke it but do take it in, pot has regenerative properties for your lungs. I'll try to find the study if I can.
