Harriet trailer (Harriet Tubman biopic)

Son, the entire premise of the movie is based on how terrible the main villain is (the White Slave Owner). She has to escape because the White Slave Owner is going to sale her, she comes back to free her family who are enslaved by the WHITE SLAVE OWNER, she comes back again to save her sister from the WHITE SLAVE OWNER. Honestly, there are no good white people in the entire movie (Edit: I forgot there were some white people in the background during the Underground Railroad meetings).

But it is also badly written. Its not a good movie, so please stop having me defend it.

To answer your question, I don't recall either of them actually killing a SLAVE. I may be mistaken.
Right now I can't remember how Harriet's sister died.
The Black man did kill a key character but that character wasn't a slave. Which was probably why his character had to die and its apparent they didn't want to show Harriet actually kill anyone.

Again, the movie was bad and that is it.

There is no white savior in this movie.
However, the movie is very bad. 5 minutes in I knew it wasn't going to be good.
This felt like a made for television Hallmark movie.
The score was laughably bad.
I was excited for this movie because people were talking about Oscars and I couldn't wait to see an Oscar quality Harriet Tubman movie. This was not it.
However, there is no white savior in this movie. The so called white savior is the main villain of the movie.
Also, Cynthia Erivo has a bright future and she was fantastic in the stage version of The Color Purple. We really should support this talented Black woman.

Its the same director from Eve's Bayou (a classic)

Ok just finished watching. This movie is unequivocally bad. It struck me more of amateurish than hallmark or redbox/Netflix quality. Which is baffling because the director has been making films since 1997. A sign of bad direction is when good actors stink. This movie has good actors such as erivo, joe alwyn, leslie odom jr and they all stunk. Lack of vision and focus come to mind. Photography is not good looking or compelling. I am fascinated with Harriet Tubman and her accomplishments but this movie was uninteresting and predictable. Lack of any real suspense.
