There is no white savior in this movie.
However, the movie is very bad. 5 minutes in I knew it wasn't going to be good.
This felt like a made for television Hallmark movie.
The score was laughably bad.
I was excited for this movie because people were talking about Oscars and I couldn't wait to see an Oscar quality Harriet Tubman movie. This was not it.
However, there is no white savior in this movie. The so called white savior is the main villain of the movie.
Also, Cynthia Erivo has a bright future and she was fantastic in the stage version of The Color Purple. We really should support this talented Black woman.

You have to watch the movie to understand how badly written this is. The white slave owner is the main villain, he wanted to capture Harriet and literally brutalize and make her an example. He wanted to something worse than death for her. He is not a white savior, he is the white villain. There is nothing redeemable about that character. Again, to try to fit him into this white savior narrative when he is the reason that Harriet has to go and free several slaves because HE'S ENSLAVING THEM.

Harriet gets the jump on the evil White Slave Master. Shoots his hand off and gives him some type of speech.
Again terribly written movie. I don't recommend anyone seeing it. And this coming from someone who believes Harriet Tubman is one of the Greatest American Heroes this country has ever produced.

Son, the entire premise of the movie is based on how terrible the main villain is (the White Slave Owner). She has to escape because the White Slave Owner is going to sale her, she comes back to free her family who are enslaved by the WHITE SLAVE OWNER, she comes back again to save her sister from the WHITE SLAVE OWNER. Honestly, there are no good white people in the entire movie (Edit: I forgot there were some white people in the background during the Underground Railroad meetings).But it is also badly written. Its not a good movie, so please stop having me defend it.
