NO
The paintings and bust... don't look mixed or arab or persian or anything to me. (like we think of today)

They just look like any greek or roman to me. So I guess Van diesel playing to role would be OK. but seems that the History Channel is fukkin up, cuz their version looks black.

Those statues who are supposed to represent Hannibal Barca has their authenticity doubted by modern scholars. There is NO statue that was dated to the time of Hannibal that is reputedly to be of Hannibal.

Also, take a look of the black Roman Emperor Sepitimius Servius :

Does he have the typical "Negro" features that would make the average person say that he was definitely of Negro descent?? When a race discussion shows up to a historic figure, Whites love to point out that since he "looks" Caucasian in the statue, then he is definitely Caucasian. Or ANYTHING but black.

But it is common knowledge he was a black Emperor

NO
what do we know of his background??

The statues n shyt look pretty European to me.

Everything I read by black people say he was black. But

I'm just curious. Vin Diesel said he's gonna play him in a movie.... but I wanna know how to feel about it when all the troops are white.

Denzel was supposed to do a movie portrayal also, but the powers to be said NO.

They actually did some interviews with the descendants of the Phoenicians, and said they would much rather see Vin Diseal as opposed to Denzel because he looks more like a Phoenician (IE he doesn't look BLACK). But the VD movie was proposed LOOOONG ago and is still currently up in the air.

As I said in the previous post, you cannot judge the ethnicity of the person by just looking at those "white" statues. Besides, all the busts of Hannibal is disputed by scholars.

The Forest Where Hope Died

The anthropological examination of skeletons found in tombs in Carthage proves that there is no racial unity [...] The so called Semitic type, characterized by the long, perfectly oval face, the thin aquiline nose and the lengthened cranium, enlarged over the nape of the neck has not been found in Carthage. On the other hand, another cranial form, with a fairly short face, prominent parietal bumps, farther forward and lower down than is usual is common [...] most of the Punic population in Carthage had African and even Negro ancestors" (Daily Life in Carthage at the Time of Hannibal, Charles Picard)

i agree...

Its crazy because if my family died today and we were famous or important to history --- our bones would be dug up and we would be called white despite us being from sudan and despite us ranging from light brown to very dark.
