Slasher movies are a fukking layup. How is it so hard to make a competent movie?
I’m not the guy that wants a movie to cross all it T’s and dot all it I’s but the inconsistencies of Mike in this movie/series don’t make sense. One minute he weak af then the next he picture framing a bytch with a butcher knife. He curb stomps a healthy young black man (was it Mike or Corey either way idgaf) but a 62 year old woman kicks his ass

Did you miss the scene when Laurie was standing outside of her home and Michael was stalking her from the bushes. Which was BEFORE Corey takes his mask?
Terrible build up. The kills at the end quite brutal but not enough.

If you are familiar with the first Halloween (which is the only one that's canon in DDG's trilogy), Michael was clearly an evil human. He drove a station wagon around for 80 percent of the movie. He stalked potential victims in plain sight during the day. He was a serial killer with a mask; he targeted babysitters.Again, the supernatural element that was introduced in part 3 is NOT CANON in this trilogy. If only the first Halloween is canon in this narrative, then making Michael supernatural KILLS his character and defeats the purpose of making all the other movies non-canon. Even in the second movie, Dr. Loomis was beside himself that Michael survived being shot.
The only supernatural element in the first movie like another poster already alluded to, is the holiday itself. NOT Michael.
Didn't even know 'Dr. Wynn' passed away this year.I always preferred how they explained (or didn't) Michael's nature in the first two. It's always been my belief that his supernatural edge comes from the spirit of Halloween night itself. On the surface, it's an innocent, festive holiday but behind the mask, it's rooted in a satanic and dark shroud. I always felt Halloween II's opening with the pumpkin peeling apart to reveal a skull was an unspoken double entendre. The stakes are obviously going to be raised with more death, kill counts, and bloodshed, but also symbolized that the part of Michael that was human was completely dead.
Loomis is hysterical to start H2 because even though he alluded to it, he's terrified that he walked away from six slugs unfazed. He never genuinely expected him to be the actual Boogeyman. The "Samhain" tidbit in the classroom he breaks into. His movement becoming more and more unnatural as the night carries on. Walking through fukking glass head on.
When he was The Shape is when he was the most compelling to me. Michael was a formality that had been decaying for 15 years as he waited for that night. The 'Curse of Thorn' is an example of what happens when you attempt to explain something that you have no explanation for, & the DGG trilogy is what happens when you don't fully commit to either charactistic ("Michael" or "The Shape.")
