Graduate Students Attacked by President's Secret Service, School Board Denounces

On Wednesday, the Board of Directors for the Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS) strongly denounced and condemned what they are calling an attack by agents of the General Security Unit of the National Palace (USGPN).

"USGPN agents riddled with bullets, the main gate of the School by firing at head height on students who were demanding from the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training, their dues, in the framework of an academic internship for the 2018-2019 school year", informed in a note the Board of Directors of the ENS.

According to the ENS note, the students organized a protest movement when the USGPN agents attacked. "The Council protests against this act of the USGPN agents of extreme gravity endangering the lives of all components of the School: Staff members, Professors, Students and people of the neighborhood," argued the ENS.

The Board of Directors of the École Normale Supérieure says they are awaiting for an investigation to be opened by the judicial police. "A formal complaint will be filed in this direction," it said.

AUDIO | U.S. Ambassador Visit of Support for Embattled Haiti President Denounced by Leading Lawmaker

Deputy Jean A. Rodon Bien-Aime (PHTK - Cercavajal) denounced the visit by the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Kelly Craft, in Haiti. Madame Craft is in Haiti in an attempt by the Trump administration to establish a government for President Jovenel Moïse who an overwhelming majority of Haitians have called on to resign.

Deputy Bien-Aime said the real opposition would not be meeting with Ambassador Craft. The opposition, which has become institutional over the past three weeks of discussions and agreements at the Marriott Hotel, did not receive nor accept a formal invitation to discuss anything with a U.S. delegation.

Craft, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, though is not in Haiti as a representative of the U.N. is meeting with friends according to Deputy Bien-Aime and whatever comes of the talks will have no affect on the movement to obtain President Moïse's resignation and establish a transitional government.

Jovenel Moïse was found to have committed fraud, money laundering for the aims of embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars from the PetroCaribe fund meant to develop Haiti. His administration is implicated by human rights organizations for sponsoring terrorist gangs that have massacred several underprivileged communities where hundreds have died. As well, with the Haitian National Police that is funded and trained by the United States, the Moïse administration has been proved to use excessive force and violence against protesters.
