PetroCaribe: 14 Organizations in Miami Protest in Solidarity with Movements in Haiti

999u7a_z97r9l

A group of community organizations in South Florida held a rally on Saturday, November 16 in Miami to show solidarity with the many sectors of Haitian society that have called for systematic change in Haiti.

The rally began at 5:00 PM at the Toussaint Louverture Statue on the Corner of North Miami Avenue and 62 Street.

Haiti has been in a standstill nearing 10 weeks. All sectors of Haitian society, business, religious, political and the youth have been protesting for the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse, accountability on financial crimes and an overhaul of the political system.

The groups in Miami are especially decrying daily killings and disappearances of protesters and journalists. The Jovenel Moïse administration has been cited for repression by Amnesty International and numerous human rights reports implicate them in using terrorist gangs to massacre citizens.

As millions have taken to the streets asking for change, accountability, and a stop to massacres and human rights abuses in Haiti, the Miami organizations join those in Canada, New York and others to say with a loud voice: We stand with the Haitian people, We stand for change!

Organizations that supported the rally were,
Family Action Network Movement,
Sant La (Haitian Neighborhood Center),
Veye Yo,
Ayiti Toma,
Haitian American Community Development Coalition (HACDC),
Haitian American Professional Coalition (HAPC),
Florida Immigrant Coalition,
New Florida Majority,
We Count,
350 South Florida,
Association of Exchange and Development of Activities & Partnerships (AEDAP),
South Florida Progressive Jewish Action,
Labor Community Alliance of South Florida and FANM In Action.

"#Haiti: Harvest of Hope" received this short review from President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in 1995, nearly one year after he returned from exile. Abolishing the Haitian military was the singular most popular thing during his presidency.

Today in #Haiti - another mass funeral for protesters and activists murdered by the criminal government and allies. The Core Group (US, Canada, France, Brazil, Spain, Germany, EU, UN & OAS) used violence to install the criminal regime and violence is being used to maintain it.

Children in #Haiti are losing their mothers and fathers as the criminal government's killing spree against protesters and activists continue. People who are demanding just the basic needs for human survival are marked for death in this country.

Sit-Ins at U.S. Embassy in Haiti Will Continue, Protesters Declare

999u7d_wzis0s

Demonstrators in Haiti amassed in front of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince on Tuesday for the second time in as many weeks. The National Police of Haiti (PNH) have treated the embassy and surrounding areas as a sterile site, aggressively, excessively and violently disbanding demonstrations however peaceful, but an increase in frequency of protest access in the zone, as of recent, is noted at The Haiti Sentinel.

Tuesday, the demonstrators who rallied a sit-in demonstration at the U.S. Embassy raised the notion of no longer climbing up Delmas Road to protest in Petion-Ville but instead to organize all subsequent demonstrations at the United States Embassy.

"We're done climbing up to Petion-Ville to reclaim our rights, from now in, it's in front of the American embassy because they are the ones keeping this corruption in power, protecting the massacres, the criminals, keeping this oppressive system in power," said a demonstrator over the airwaves.

The U.S. and its diplomats in Haiti remain the only entity providing steadfast support to the Haitian President Jovenel Moïse. Mr. Moïse was is facing charges from the Supreme Court of Auditors for having established a number of shell companies for the purposes of laundering hundreds of millions of dollars of state funds through dubious contracts. His administration is charged by human rights organizations, local and international, for involvement in the massacres of his own people and systematic repression of demonstrations.

Every sector of Haitian society has called for the resignation of President Moïse, a judicial process against those responsible for corruption and massacres in Haiti, and a transition and refounding of the nation.

The crisis continues to make victims. The funeral of five activists killed during protests against PHTK power is sung this morning at Sacred Heart Church. They are Jean Belleville, Farah Blanc, Paustin Wilson, Pierre Yasmine and Lolo Isnor.

The US is not baffling: we need a peaceful solution to the crisis. Kelly Craft, US representative to the UN, will be in Haiti this Wednesday to meet "political and economic leaders of Haiti" around the crisis, informs the US Embassy in Haiti

The United States will be asked to encourage the actors to "adopt urgent measures" to "form a government in the service of the Haitian people," according to the statement of the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince.

The spokesman for @sedephaiti , André Michel, already rejects the call for dialogue of the USA. "We will not negotiate with the corrupt, with those who perpetrated the La Saline massacre. Resignation & nothing else, "he says, referring to Kelly Craft's visit tomorrow # Haiti.
