Ha! The film 'Dear White People' is a farce. A big spoiler from someone who saw the movie. Knew it.

I didn't see it that way. The only person who "toned it down" was the mixed girl because her own issues, and in the end she really didnt. She just used a different way to fight it.

Like previously mentioned, the movie is about identity. She did what was expected of her, at the end she did it her way. And other people ended up finding their voice and fighting back.
I did had a big problem with the lead girl being mixed, it should have been a full blood.

This movie just went to soft on this issue.

But if you enjoyed it, who I'm I to tell you otherwise.

Why is it black peoples' responsibility to "hold up a mirror" and show white people how racist they are? They aren't imbeciles or unaware (even though some pretend to be).

White people know how racist they can be; many just don't give a damn to do anything about it.
Why not

We should not only throw up a mirror but also redicule them for being that way.

Boondocks came close to it but then Aaron jumped ship :snoop:

The big, goofy pet negro fro on the cover should have clued you into what the movie was going to be like.
Just saw it and I loved it. :yeshrug:

The message was basically you dont always have to be heavy handed to get white people to learn how racist they are and how racism still exists. Because as we've all seen, they get defensive, deflect and derail. Instead, you can hold a mirror to them. So they can see for themselves.

It didnt end leaving white folks off the hook as it showed photos of all the recent blackface parties in universities.

It touched on a lot of points without getting too deep.

Id love to see more movies like this.
Oh you DEFINITELY need to be heavy handed when it comes to combatting white supremacy.

Blackface is pretty bad but the movie focused on microagressions of white people who think that we live in a post-racial world.

So what would you have had them do? Seriously. Have the white folks hang a noose? Kill someone on campus?
They could show how in 2014 cacs still donate millions to a white man just for killing an unarmed black child walking home. Or how they wear arm bracelets in celebration of cops who gun down unarmed black kids.

pretty much how I felt about it. I went to an HBCU and grew up in an 'urban' area never had the identity crisis seen int his flick. It wasn't a bad movie but def wasn't anything amazing where I feel I will need to show my kids. If Spike Does School Daze 2 he could really hit on some important stuff.

Because we're the only truth left on the planet. Because no one else is going to do it. Because you should. Because its better then quietly eating their shyt with a smile.

Here I was hoping this would be a movie that young black people could watch and be inspired by. But it's a lightskin bish who wants to only claim her black side while sucking on white dikk.

#newblack

I wanted to get my @track 1 on when I saw her wenching it up in the movie. Waste of my time. Movie was ass.
