johnson is a solidified top 3 heavyweight of all time. nat fleischer was literally alive to see johnson, louis and ali in his lifetime. he has johnson as his number 1 heavyweight of all time. hes seen these fighters in person fighting. not just the chopped up, old damaged film we have of johnson. no way ali knocks johnson out. johnson was as fast as ali with feet and hands. was a better inside fighter, much stronger than ali physically. could punch better. physically johnson despite being shorter was much more imposing than a prime ali.
im very serious. ive watched and studied johnson meticilously. despite the footage being bad and missing frames causing it to look choppy. the skills are there to see on display. boxers used to train with wrestlers back then so there was a lot of skilled grappling going on inside. alis tactic on the inside was to hold the opponents head down with one arm and get the overhook with the other. johnson was much too skilled to get tied up by that.
johnson was the best defensive fighter in heavyweight history. a maser at parrying. he used the jab to get to inside safely along with hand fighting. he could leap out of range quick as fukk and he only moved when he needed to.
its very easy to laugh off a fighter because he fought in 1900 and scoff him off. but unless youve realy studied the written accounts of people that saw him live, watched all the footage available then im sorry but its just plain ignorant to laugh off johnson.
i dont think youve done the research. please explain how you think ali beats johnson. i mean on a technical level.
