NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
tbh.
Nothing, I love Nas.
I paid over a G to see that man three times last year :pachaha:
I just feel like we talk about Nas/Lupe/Tupac/Biggie/Jay-Z etc. all the time.
There's rarely discussion of new artists and 9/10 it's always the same rehashed topic.

I actually like Lupe, I think he's a great rapper but I think we both know that Lupe fiasco
gets overrated in The Booth to a ridiculous degree.
Whether it's posters pretending every Lupe track is 5d Chess or acting like bro doesn't always
have several tracks where he's very regular, like no better than any typical rapper regular.
Nah I feel u. I can understand how Lupe fans can be annoying and condescending. shyt LUPE HIMSELF can be annoying and condescending. The biggest Lupe fan on this site says shyt like Nas and Rakim ain't lyricists. On the flip side the biggest Lupe hater(altho that poster is my guy) says IM a better rapper than Lupe. Lol.

If they bringing out all the legendary Wu cuts GZA’s on? Of course Lupe can’t compete with that, that’s no question

But is a crowd gonna go nuts over GZA verses? It’s well known Lupe is a pretty crazy live performer

It would be a weird ass Verzuz either way, they occupy 2 different timelines. GZA should be doing a verzuz against somebody like Kurupt or some shyt, Lupe duke it out with Wale or some shyt
GZA vs Kurupt would be insane. :wow:
Lupe vs Wale would be lame :scusthov:
The fact that GZA gets matched with Kurupt and Lupe gets Wale says it all :mjlol:

Start with the dude who said "Lupe. No explanation is even necessary, it's that clear" then posted another 16 times before starting a thread detailing his experience listening to Liquid Swords the first time :mjlol:

You got multiple Lupe fans coming off mad condescending, acting like it's an insult to even have the discussion

The styles and approaches to "lyricism" are so different it's hard to even compare them directly without other factors and biases coming into play. A better comparison would be Lupe and Pharoahe Monch but that's another thread

One dude what about the rest? Then point out the people who have been disrespecting Lu. Like I said it’s 1 or 2 people.

Lupe and Pharoah have nothing in common. And I say this as a person who has openly said Pharoah has been an inspiration to my rapping style on this board.

Lupe and GZA style isn’t so different when you’ve listened to them a lot. GZA is a narrative and descriptive writer who main focus has an expository theme with specifics tones, themes, and vocabulary. Lupe uses all while incorporating a TON of different flows and uses extended, implied, and dead metaphors in his writing.

Like I said y’all keep showing how 1. You don’t listen to both. 2. Bias. 3. You only agree with people in here that agree with you. Point the people out that with specifics not general “that person”

What a fukking fruitless fukking thread this has devolved into :dead:

It really is. Those who can’t explain don’t know and it’s obvious man.

At least make an objective explanation but people can’t do that. It’s literally been the same statement regurgitated on here

Not true at all, The Cool, Food & Liquor, Drogas Wave & Tetsuo & Youth are all great albums

And as someone already said, we’re not talking about albums here

To you.
I don't like his music, at all. I feel the same as I do listening to Eminem. I can appreciate the skill but I literally have the :unimpressed:face listening to 90% of their catalog. I feel nothing listening to their shyt.

And I said that, on here, years before Lupe was like :manny: "I'm more of a lyricist than good at making music", or however he worded it. So obviously he has some kinda inkling he's deficient in that department.

It’s because Lupe had no contemporary for his time when he started. From 2005-2010 there really wasn’t no nikka like him that merged the underground and mainstream lyrical hood conscious nerd shyt

As much as the Coli hates to admit, the Wales, pretty much all of TDE/Black Hippy, Chance, Odd Future nikkas were influenced and branched off the Lupe tree

Even Meek Mill said he listened to Food & Liquor over any shyt from Cole & Kendrick, said he knew every word to it in that Angie Martinez interview…

Lupe had a bigger scope on the late 2000’s-2010’s rappers than nikkas give him credit for

Lupe over wu-tang beats would be dope. It’s odd how their worlds never came together. Rza and Lupe fascination with Kung-fu (or martial arts), chinese culture etc.

Hell, even their fascination with comics and anime.

Lupe can get rappitty rappitty at times but overall his bars have way more depth than Eminem whose bars are mostly just hollow lyrical excercises.

If you’re black, You honestly feel NOTHING from listening to not one track on drogas wave?

I'm not comparing their bars.

Their issues are the same for me. Eminem ODs on the technical aspects of rapping. Lupe ODs on the lyrical aspects of rapping. Neither make particularly good music because of this.

I thought the comparison of this thread was about lyrics, not music.

*shrugs.*

I already addressed this earlier in the thread.

I weighed that in my response.

Ultimately if the music isn't good then how lyrical you are doesn't matter. They're making music, not writing a novel.

Lupe and to me it isn’t even close. Both are amazing lyricist but Lu makes better albums and is the more versatile of the 2. When Lu is rapping at 100%, he’s bodying most of the game
