HL is just people looking to argue just to argue. I clearly put “doesn’t matter nuance or circumstance”.
Chicken was 1.50 now it’s 3 a pound. Rent probably doubled. That’s all any normal human being cares about.
I doubt the validity of these polls because they deviate so much from other recent polls without much change in the environment.
But, let's pretend for a moment they are accurate, there are many possible reasons why. I notice liberals, online mostly, seem to be in a bubble somewhat. That bubble being they are probably more politically educated than the average voter and they view everything through their abnormally informed and involved point of view which will lead to being out of sync of where the "average" person is at. Meaning, there are a lot of shyt they're informed about that the average person doesn't know about or, simply doesn't care because it's not relevant to their day to day.
The democrats in some states are fukking up in ways that will definitely be noticed by everyday people and may guide decisions. In Chicago and New York the migrant issue is out of control and a lot of people do not feel it's being handled. This is something that will be visible to average people than the palace intrigue shyt in congress for example.
In places like San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle, the homeless encampment and open air drug use is out of control. Again, something average people will actually see in their day to day life.
Like you said, they see the prices of goods increase. They see all the above and hear on the news we are giving billions to Ukraine (with no distinction a lot of that is the value of weapons which is a messaging failure).
Some of these problems you have people like Trump saying he will fix it. He definitely isn't going to fix it in a way liberals will like but at least he is addressing it while the perception of liberal mayors and governors are simply letting the issues fester.
Again, this is all assuming the polls are accurate which I find hard to believe. Democrats have been over performing in all the elections since 2022 by wide margins and therefore despite the above issues I still think democrats are favorite for the general and it's because a lot of the candidates on the right are nuts. But failure to address the issues above in ways that are visible to everyday people is an issue and makes the likelihood of a win come next year seem more in the air.
Also, despite how stupid the average voter is, the bottom line is the name of the game is votes. You can vent about their stupidity all you want but those running for office need to work at either better educating these people or work at the level they are at because if you don't have the votes, regardless of how stupid the voter is, nothing else matters. It's the game.
