Nah. Sony makes the bulk of its profits from online services like PSN, etc. Pricing your console too expensive means less owners and therefore less revenue so it wouldn’t make any sense for them to make it expensive.

$399/$499 is almost 99% guaranteed now.

I can see Sony bundling PS Plus in with PS5 DE for $499 too.

The truth here is that both Sony and Microsoft wished that they could go $599.
I assume both are eating the cost even at $499.
